Hills and Valleys

by | Aug 4, 2024 | Peace, Presence, Trials

“‘For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” (Isaiah 54:10 ESV)

“And I will make all my mountains a road, and my highways shall be raised up.” (Isaiah 49:11 ESV)

There’s a song called, “Hills and Valleys” by Tauren Wells:

“On the mountains, I will bow my life
To the One who set me there.
In the valley, I will lift my eyes to the One who sees me there.
When I’m standing on the mountain, I didn’t get there on my own.
When I’m walking through the valley, I know I am not alone.
You’re God of the hills and valleys.
Hills and valleys.
God of the hills and valleys.
And I am not alone.”

Hills and Valleys by Tauren Wells

I have walked through a lot of valleys. Sometimes, I felt alone, but other times, I knew Jesus was walking with me, holding my hand, keeping me safe. And He was with me on the mountain tops rejoicing with me, encouraging me to keep going. He rejoiced with me when I was doing good. And held me close while I cried during bad times.

But as I get older, even though there are still valleys that I have to go through, I am not crying because good things are just around the corner. This is just a temporary speed bump. I won’t call it a road block because that means I have to stop. Speed bump, I just slow down, never stopping. And that’s how it should be. It may slow me down, but  it won’t stop me. As long as I am breathing, I have work to do for God.

And while the hills and valleys will always be there, it doesn’t mean it has to bring you to tears, causing you to stop. Just go on and keep serving God.

Have a blessed day, everyone.
