“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11 ESV)
“And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them.” (Acts 3:5 ESV)
What do you want or expect from God? Do you expect Him to give you everything on a silver platter? Spoiler alert! He doesn’t work that way. If God made your life a bed of roses, you would be a spoiled brat.
I was sent a youtube song yesterday, (thanks Greg) called “Come To Receive”:
“I have come to receive.
Come to Receive by Leon Patillo
I have come to receive.
I have come to receive from the Lord.
And it feels so good,
Like I knew it would.
I havе come to receivе from the Lord.
You have satisfied my soul.
You have satisfied my soul.
You have satisfied my soul every day.
And the least that I can do,
Is set aside this day for You.
You have satisfied my soul every day.”
I come to God to receive. I want and need His mercy and grace. I already have His love. But I need His mercy and grace on a daily basis. So I come before my Lord to receive these things. I also receive forgiveness from Him.
But the best thing, like the song says, He satisfies my soul everyday. So I set aside time especially for Him daily. I have set aside time each morning to talk to Him, read my Bible and pray. Then again at night before I go to bed.
But just because I set special time apart for Him doesn’t mean I won’t strike up a conversation with Him throughout the day.
What about you? Do you just expect God to fill your every need without anything in return? Sorry, that’s not how it works. God wants us to talk to Him, spend time with Him. So let’s do it. I challenge you today to make time for God. He is waiting for your call.
Have a blessed day everyone.
