The World’s Best Peace Offering

by | Jan 16, 2016 | Sanctuary

“When his offering is a sacrifice of a peace offering . . .” Lev. 3:1 NKJV

As my study of the books of Moses brought me to the book of Leviticus, I suddenly found myself “bogged down” in ceremonial law. All these offerings . . . What was their purpose then? Do they still have relevance for us today?

You are probably by now well acquainted with my philosophy that if it’s in the Bible, it’s relevant for us today, and once again, this philosophy drove me to dig deeper. After praying for the Holy Spirit to enlighten me regarding the relevance of this particular passage, it became clear to me that the peace offerings and the offerings of atonement were handled and processed nearly identically.

If the peace offering and the offerings of atonement were handled and processed in the same way, and Jesus became our ultimate “atonement offering”, could it be that He was our ultimate “Peace Offering” too? Jesus, himself, said “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” Matt 11:28-29). Our “peace offering” has already been offered and accepted! Now is the time to be rejoicing in that peace with God!

It is so easy to hold on to your burdens, but Jesus was our ultimate peace offering! He already earned the peace, and He would like nothing better than to bestow it on you! All you must do is: “Cast all your anxiety on Him” (1 peter 5:7)!

Why not give it up? Why not lay all of your burdens down at Jesus’ feet? Accept the gift of peace and the freedom from worry that He has to offer! “Cast all your anxiety on Him, for He cares for you!”

In His love,
Lyn
