Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

(1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV)

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

(Colossians 3:17 ESV)

A Psalm for giving thanks. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

(Psalm 100:1-5 ESV)

Todays is Thanksgiving. What do I have to be thankful for?

Have you ever asked yourself that question? I have once or twice. Well here is my list:

  1. That God allowed me to wake up this morning.
  2. That I have food to eat, clothes to wear and a home to live in.
  3. I have good friends and family.
  4. I belong. I am not alone. I belong. I belong to a wonderful church and have family and friends who actually care about me. But most importantly,
  5. I am thankful that God will readily forgive our sins when we repent.
  6. I belong to God!

I am a child of the Most High and He claims me as His own! Can you say that about yourself? If not, here’s a prayer for you: “Dear God, I come to You admitting that I am a sinner. I believe that Your Son, Jesus, died on the cross to take away my sin. I also believe He rose from the dead so I can be justified and made righteous through faith in Him. Jesus, I choose to follow You, and I ask that you fill me with the power of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, amen”. I am thankful you prayed the prayer and gave your life to God.

That’s a partial list. Make your own list. But don’t forget to thank God for all He has done in your life.

Happy Thanksgiving.
