Temptations

by | Aug 31, 2022 | Choices, Deliverance, Temptation

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

(1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV)

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

(James 4:7 ESV)

Have you ever been tempted to do something you know is wrong? Did you go ahead and do it or were you good and resisted? I hope you resisted.

I was tempted yesterday. I got an offer for a credit card. I know better. I don’t need a credit card. I don’t need another payment either. So I resisted and threw it away. But not before tearing it up, just in case someone decides to go through my trash.

But we all have temptations. No, not the old singing group. The devil will send temptations your way to temp you and keep you from concentrating on God. By taking your focus off God, the devil wins that round. And the more rounds the devil wins, the farther away from God we get. Not a good idea by the way.

But as the scripture says in James 4:7 ESV : “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” When the devil is working overtime on me, I plead the blood of Jesus over me and he stops. At least for the time being. He still tries to come back. He was whispering things to me yesterday. But I was busy and didn’t have time to listen. I just told him to take a hike because greater is he that is in me than he who is in the world, I was able to ignore the devil. My faith and trust is in God alone. God will take care of me as long as I let Him. I have to do my part and that is keeping my focus on Him.

So where is your focus today? Is it on the world or is it on God? Choose wisely my friend. One choice leads to eternal torture and one leads to eternity in paradise.

Have a great day everyone.
