“And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says, ‘I know him’ but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” (1 John 2:3-4 NKJV)
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21 NKJV)
There is a song called “No What Ifs”. I heard it on my way home from church yesterday. I started thinking. What if I just skated along and just did the bare minimum to get into heaven. I would get there but would I miss things God has for me here? I think I would. God rewards those who do his work.
What if I am saved but don’t follow God? How can I be saved if I don’t follow God? I think that might be a requirement. So what if I was saved, but renounced God? For one thing, that is really not a good idea. To renounce God is a one way ticket to the land of eternal heat and torture. Not my idea of a fun time.
So what if I did everything I could physically to work for God? Would that be enough? I have issues with my legs not wanting to work all the time. They are healed, it just hasn’t manifested yet. But it makes it hard for me to stand for long periods of time and walk distances. So a door to door mission is out. But I do have some computer skills in the graphic design area. I can make pamplets and flyers for the team to hand out.
I think that is a way to serve God. Check on the sick and elderly. That’s another way to serve.
So what if your health doesn’t permit you to do much? There is always something you can do. Pray for people. Write devotionals, make cards for the congregation for birthdays and anniversaries. There is always something you can do for God. So start looking to see where you can help out, no matter how small you may think it is, it’s big in God’s eyes.
Have a great day.
