Crawling was not enough
So I decided to take a step–
Still, a step was not enough
So I decided to take a thousand.
If birth is a step to life
And growth, a step to maturity–
Then I am not prepared
To take the step of death.
What shall I say,
When I take the step of love?
What shall be my dream,
When I take the step of purpose?
In the beginning of the end–
A thousand shall come and go,
Many shall fall when they walk,
But only the wise shall rise again.
A thousand steps is worth the risk
Of living a life of joy and peace.
A thousand steps is worth the risk
Of living a life bereft of guilt and pain.
And if a thousand steps is not enough
To sing the song of my heart–
Then I will take another thousand steps
Until my song of success is heard.
