I think we all know what parasites are. But for any who doesn’t, parasites are something that latches on and sucks the life out of a person.
Parasites do not always refer to the living kind. Parasites can also be classified as addictions. Addictions come in a lot of forms. For instance, I have a food addiction. That is a hard one to put down and walk away from because I need to eat to live. I just need to make better choices in what I eat.
Other addictions can come in the form of alcohol, drugs, gambling, porn, smoking, even hoarding.
Electronics can be addicting. You see kids all over with their face buried in their phone, tablet or computer games. Did you know some computer games have demons attached to them? Why do you think they are so addicting? Satan wants your attention off of God and what better way to get a kid’s attention than a computer game. Adults too can be addicted to computer games.
Shopping can be an addiction. If you are spending money needed for bills or groceries on stuff you don’t need, it’s an addiction. Just watch an episode of Horders and you will see. You say you can quit at any time. Prove it! Lay down that addiction. Let it go. See what happens. Addictions steal away your money, time, family and friends. They can also steal away your health.
I want to encourage you today to put down the addiction that is keeping you down. Destroy any addiction that has your heart or it will destroy you. Give God a chance to heal you from it. What have you got to lose except freedom from an addiction? By the way, I am changing my eating habits. I have already lost 4 pounds this month.
