“Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.'” (John 20:29 NIV)
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2This is what the ancients were commended for.” (Hebrews 11:1,2 NIV)
“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:4 NIV)
They who are blind can see and they that see are blind, for they that are blind trust in the Lord for guidance and protection. By hearing they believe and are strengthened in faith. They believe AND THEN they see in spirit. But they who see are blinded by vanity and distractions. They assume they know so much, but really they know so little. They believe not unless they see, and for that reason they WILL NOT see. Therefore they are blind.
This is the explanation of my parable. In this day and age, humanity trust entirely in their senses. We have to see and feel before we believe. Similar to doubting Thomas, we have entrusted our senses so much that we have dulled our spirituality through our so called forms of entertainment. We see, we trust completely in reasoning through the norms of society, and then we believe. There are several scenarios today where we still see and yet don’t believe, because it is not associated with our norms. For example, parents believe at times that their child is the best. When we see them doing wrong in public or to another child, our mind creates a scenario that justifies our child’s wrong actions. We do this to comfort ourselves. I say to you my brothers and sisters, that we must first believe in God, believe in Christ’s death, believe that He hears us, and believe that IF our prayers are in accordance with His will, that they will be answered. Then we will see.
“Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.'” (John 20:29 NIV)
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)
