Chariots

by | Oct 18, 2014 | Faith, Protection, Trust

Scripture:

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” (Ps 20:7)

Observation:

The chariot and horse were weapons of war and naturally gave an advantage over the soldiers on foot. They were expensive and fearsome. I can see how easy it would have been to pour resources into these technological advances to gain the upper hand. However, the people of Israel were not to trust in chariots or horses but rather in the Lord their God. This goes against what the world teaches, trust in might, trust in material possession, trust in the latest technological advances. I think it is the heart that is the issue here. When we trust ONLY in the strength of created things our hearts lean on those things whether they be giftings or experiences that we have already gone through. Our hearts were designed to trust in and worship only God, that is when we operate the best. When we lean on and trust in God with all of our hearts, He will direct our paths and protect us from the enemy. Trusting in other things is a temporary fix not an eternal solution.

Application:

I desire to trust in You Lord. This means that I need to put other things in perspective. I desire to hear Your voice and respond to it, not fears brought on by others opinions. I desire to trust You for health and healing not just the doctors and medicine. I desire to trust in You everyday and in every way. My focus needs to on my relationship with You.

Prayer:

Lord help me trust in You with all of my heart, in Jesus name, amen.
