“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
(Matthew 21:22 ESV)
“And without faith, it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
(Hebrews 11:6 ESV)
I went to church yesterday, as I usually do on Sunday. The sermon, the whole service, was great. Pastor talked on hope and faith. I listened very closely.
I got to thinking on the way home about hope and faith. I bought a little yellow rose bush this past summer. This bush was small and scrawny, but I had it planted. I hoped that little bush would grow up big and strong and give me a lot of yellow roses. Bugs started eating the leaves until there wasn’t anything but a few holey leaves left. I didn’t give that poor little bush much hope in living. But I started speaking over that almost dead little bush. I declared it would live and not die. It will have beautiful roses on it. A friend told me a while back that it had green leaves on part of it. I started speaking over it more. I noticed Friday that there are more leaves. It looks almost healthy again. I had hoped it would live. Then, when I saw leaves on it, that gave my faith a big old boost.
We need hope and faith in our lives. At the end of the service, the pastor had us write down what we were hoping for. I made my list. It’s not very long, but I have hoped for these things for quite a while. Now, I will put my faith to work and call them in.
Write your own list. Then, put your faith to work and call them in. God is waiting for us to trust in Him for our needs. Yes, He already knows what we need. But He wants us to learn to depend on Him.
Have a blessed day, everyone.
