Reality, or Deception?

by | Jan 3, 2015 | Deception

Looking through the window, I see the likeness of a miniature magpie. It is formed by a rose branch and some leaves hanging down and is the image of a magpie standing alert with head looking upward and forward. Even the colouring of black with white on the back of the neck and a white strip down the length of the wing looks real.

However, it is not real. Seen from any other angle it is just part of a branch overhung with a few leaves.

How easily we are deceived if we believe without questioning origins.

Then I looked at a silhouetted pure white face about the height of a finger with a high-backed head and marvelled at its likeness to an intelligent, observant child.

Others have seen both my imaginary magpie and the sculpture and all agree they see clearly the apparent reality of both.

However, the sculpture is equally as fake as the magpie. The sculpture is the accidental shape of tissues in a tissue box forming the face. Looked at from any other angle it is just a blob of tissue paper.

Jesus warned his disciples of worse deceptions to come after his resurrection when he said “take heed that no man deceive you,” (Matthew 24:4). Then in verse 24, he went on, “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”

Always check origins of reality. Please, please, do not be deceived.
