The Proper Perspective

by | Oct 18, 2014 | Poems

One day I stood on the high hill
Overlooking my little town.
From that lofty height I saw anew
Just how small and insignificant I am.

Spread out before me in the valley below
Everything was of infinitesimal size
All possessions, people, buildings and such
I saw that day through God’s eyes!

Oh, as we go about our daily tasks
And God crowns our efforts with success,
We tend to puff up with ego and pride
And to think of others as less.

Ah my friend, when your importance you view
As being much larger than it really is;
Just take a trip to yonder high hill
And let God have the Glory that is His!
