According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, “perseverance represents steadfastness and the quality of not giving up when facing hard obstacles.”
Key Characteristics of perseverance are:
• Unwavering Effort: Continuing to work toward a goal even when progress is slow or blocked.
• Mental Toughness: Staying focused and resilient in spite of failure, criticism, or discouragement.
• Long-Term Focus: Committing to a process over months or years rather than looking for a quick fix.
Common Synonyms
• Persistence: Continuing steadily in a course of action.
• Tenacity: Holding firmly and stubbornly to a purpose.
• Doggedness: Working hard with grim determination and refusal to quit.
• Steadfastness: Remaining loyal and steady to a goal or belief.
Do you have what it takes for the long haul? Or do you give up when things gets a little tough? I really hope you keep going. Jesus knew what lay ahead for Him. He didn’t give up. He kept going. We need to keep going and stay strong in the face of adversity. I know it’s hard. But Jesus is here to help us. We just need to call on Him.
Next time you are going through a rough patch, call on Jesus for help. But don’t you dare give up. Don’t let the devil win.
