The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
(Lamentations 3:22-23, ESV)
The faithfulness of God is that God is totally dependable, faithful and is never false to Himself. He has never broken His promise and He is the same throughout eternity. The character of His being is unchanging. His relentlessness in respect to His promises, His people and His purpose is beyond doubt.
As bleak as the situation may be, God’s covenant, loving kindness is always present and His incredible faithfulness always endures so that His people will not be utterly destroyed.
“God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” (Numbers 23:19, ESV)
Whereas man cannot be relied upon, God is a reliable and unchangeable. He is not turning around; as a result, He always fulfills His word.
“Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.” (Deuteronomy 7:9, ESV)
Every promise of God concerning our lives are certain and shall come to pass. He is a faithful God who keeps covenant even to a thousand generations.
1. If God was faithful to Abraham and kept His promises to Him and him the father of many nations
2. If God was faithful to Israel even in their rebellion and brought them to the promise land
3. If God was faithful to David and preserved his lineage thereby bringing forth Christ
4. God was faithful to humanity by sending Jesus to die for our sins and fulfill every prophecy and promise
5. Why wouldn’t He be faithful to you too?
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13, ESV)
Even when we are facing trials, God’s promises assures us that He is always with us, to give us strength and a path to go forward. He is faithful, and He will not let us be tempted beyond our ability.
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23, ESV)
Knowing God’s faithfulness to endure forever, we can trust Him completely. He is not a God to lie. He will sail us through the darkest times of our lives. He is great anchor we can firmly rely on. While the billows roll, our God is steadfast in His love and His mercies will never come to our end. Whatever be your lot, trust Him to the latter, knowing very well that our God is faithful God. He will never leave us nor forsake, neither will He forsake us.
