Where No One Stands Alone

by | Apr 9, 2021 | Loneliness, Presence

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18 ESV)

“Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand.” (Psalm 73:23 ESV)

I was killing time last night so I was scrolling through Facebook. The Gaither Vocal Band came on. They were singing the song Where No One Stands Alone. Here is part of it:

“Hold my hand all the way, every hour, every day
From here to the great unknown
Take my hand, let me stand
Where no-one stands alone.”

It describes my life right now. There have been times when I have felt so alone and unloved, forgotten. I know that isn’t true. It’s a lie of the devil. But it gets hard sometimes. But this song reminds me that I am never alone. Jesus is always with me. Jesus walks with me daily.

As part of my prayer in the morning, I ask Jesus to take my hand and walk with me, I don’t want to take a step without him. And I don’t. He is always with me. I trust Jesus to see me through each day, no matter what comes up. He will get me through it.

Let me give you an example. About 6 or so years ago, I needed new back tires on my car. I went to a garage in the town where I worked at the time. It was around 30 some miles from home. When the mechanic took the tires off, he brought one in to show me. He couldn’t figure out how I was driving on them. Both tires had a palm size section of tread missing, all he saw was the steel belt. He couldn’t understand how they were holding air in them. I do. Jesus sent angels to hold them together.

So when people let you down, remember the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and he is always with you. He will never let you down. He will hold you and carry you until it passes.

Just like poem Footprints in the Sand. In our saddest or most troublesome times, that’s when Jesus is carrying us. So rest in his arms, let him carry you. It will get better soon.
