Bravery

by | Jun 23, 2022 | Courage, Second Coming, Witnessing

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

(Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV)

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

(Joshua 1:9 ESV

Google defines brave as, “Ready to face and endure danger or pain; showing courage.”

I like to think I am a brave person. But if that is true, then why do I lower my voice when someone walks by my apartment? My neighbor is very nosy. He likes to sit close to my window and listen to my conversations. I have noticed that my voice gets quieter when I think he is around. I should not do that. I read several different chapters in the Bible every morning out loud. I get quieter when I hear his door open. I should read louder so he can hear me clearly.

I have talked to him about Jesus. He says he is saved but something inside me tells me he isn’t. So I will keep trying. But that isn’t the only area I need to be brave in. I need to bravely approach people and talk about my savior. If I don’t tell people about Jesus, who will? I know Jesus wants me to tell others about him. So why don’t I?

It goes back to my childhood I believe. For some reason I was not comfortable talking to people. I always hung back and let others take the lead. But I have noticed that as I get older, I am getting braver. Or maybe I just don’t care what people think about me anymore.

So go tell someone today about Jesus. You just might be pleasantly surprised by their interest.

Have a great day.
