Attitudes

by | Oct 20, 2021 | Attitude

“Do all things without grumbling or questioning.” (Philippians 2:14 ESV)

“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.” (Ephesians 4:31 ESV)

In my book, there are two kinds of attitudes, good or bad.

Yesterday, I had a bad attitude. I don’t know why, I got up in a mood and it stayed with me most of the day. I did finally come out of it, but not without a lot of prayer and repenting. I will admit though, I did not snap at my troublesome neighbor. I was actually nice to him. I did snap at my home care worker, and I deeply regret it. And yes, I did apologize.

Sometimes when we snap at people it’s for some unknown reason. We just have a bad attitude. My grandma Keller told me a long time ago, you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar. It’s true. If you are nice to people you never have to apologize.

Do you think Jesus had an attitude with his disciples? I think He had plenty of reasons to, but I don’t think He did. It just wasn’t in His nature. Jesus was kind and loving to everyone, even Judas who betrayed Him. Even while the guards were beating Him. I don’t believe He spoke a harsh or angry word to them.

I am striving to be like Jesus. I want to be kind and loving all the time. Will I succeed? Maybe, maybe not. But it’s a good goal.

Everyone is different, with different personalities and we just need to learn to all get along. But until we do, I will keep trying to maintain a positive attitude.

Have a great day everyone.
