TANGLE UNTANGLED, PART 3

by | Jan 16, 2016 | Tangle Untangled (A Mini-Series)

Yes, Christ has won the war but the battle is not over. God is the supreme authority but Satan, who was the high angel, seeks subjects. Just as each member of the Trinity has a human figure to represents each one, so also does Satan have a human representative.

Firstly let us look at representatives of the Trinity.

God the Father did not die for mankind, and it could be said that Enoch is representative of the Father in that he went to heaven without tasting death: “Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him,” (Genesis 5:24).

His translation is confirmed in the New Testament where “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God,” ( Hebrews 11:5).

In the second instance, Elijah is shown as a prophet of wind and fire and as he was walking and talking with Elisha, “there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more:” (2 Kings 2:11). Elijah could be said to represent the Holy Spirit who did not die just as the Father did not die.

Moses was also a representative. Just as the Creator created the world and all that is in it, Moses was called upon to create the nation of Israel. He took his people out of Egypt to create a nation built on the same principles as the Garden of Eden. “By faith, he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible,” (Hebrews 11:27).

Moses died because of sin, Deuteronomy 1:37, where he said, “The Lord was angry with me for your sakes.” Moses was resurrected, Jude 9, when Michael the Archangel disputed with Satan for his body. Moses was resurrected as Jesus would be, and appeared with both Elijah and Christ on the Mount of Transfiguration, Matthew 17:3. So it could be said that Moses represents the Creator who became Jesus, “the last Adam” (1st Corinthians 15:45). Jesus died because of the sins of all people and was resurrected.

Before we look at who is the human who we could say represents Satan in the Scriptures, please remember that all of the Lord’s people were taught about their Godly culture from early childhood. Pray with me that the Lord will give us of His love and wisdom to follow His true representatives in our lives. “I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved,” (Psalm 8:8).
