God didn’t distance Himself from suffering and pain in sending Jesus; rather, He sent part of Himself! That’s how much He loves us!
In human terms, the cross makes no sense. What saving power can come from a baby in a manger? What can come from a man dying on a cross?

Mary and Joseph did the best they could with what they had in that dirty stable. And God did His best too, giving us His beloved Son Jesus!
Jesus: Our caregiver! Perhaps He learned this from Joseph! Either way, He came, He had mercy on us, and He put His own body between us and danger.
