“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.’ Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
(Proverbs 31:25-30 ESV)
“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.”
(Psalm 127:3 ESV)
What is a mother?
Google says a mother is “a woman in relation to her child or children.”
Now, what is a mom?
“Someone who brings up a child with care and affection.”
Mom and mother, according to me. A mother is the person who gave birth to you. Mom, the person who loves you regardless of how you act or behave. I have known both kinds in my life. The kind who will pawn off their kids so they can do whatever. And then the kind who hate to leave their child with anyone for any reason. I was lucky and had a Mom. When she had to go back to work after my little brother was born, her mom, my grandma, moved in with us. Mom hated that she had to go back to work but knew we were in good hands. Grandma loved us and took good care of us, but she wasn’t mom.
I was not fortunate enough to have children of my own but have two beautiful ladies who adopted me as mom. They are a gift from God to me. God blessed me so much with a wonderful mom, and now two beautiful daughters and multiple grands and great grandkids.
God loves us and knows exactly what we need, when we need it. He saw to it that I had a wonderful example of how to be a mom. I hope everyone has a wonderful day celebrating mom’s.
Have a great day, everyone.
