Lost Cause

by | Mar 29, 2024 | God's Love, Persistence, Presence, Salvation

“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”

(Psalm 91:11 ESV)

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

(1 Peter 5:8 ESV)

“And without faith, it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

(Hebrews 11:6 ESV)

According to google, lost cause is “a person or thing that can no longer hope to succeed or be changed for the better.” Have you ever felt like a lost cause? Most of us have at one time or another.

There’s  a song called, “The God Who Stays” by Matthew West:

“If I were you, I would’ve given up on me by now.
I would’ve labeled me a lost cause.
‘Cause I feel just like a lost cause.
If I were you, I would’ve turned around and walked away.
I would’ve labeled me beyond repair.
‘Cause I feel like I’m beyond repair.
Oh, but somehow, you don’t see me like I do.
Somehow, you’re still here.”

The God Who Stays by Matthew West

Do you feel like God has given up on you? Spoiler alert…He hasn’t and He won’t. Ever! God won’t give up on you until you draw your last breath. He is working on your behalf. I think He even works on your behalf if you walk away from Him. He will always keep trying to get through to you. He will send people who will try to show you the way back. God doesn’t want you in hell.

But, you may ask. How do I know heaven and hell are real? I would rather live my life believing they exist. What have I lost if I spend my life believing?  The only thing I will have lost is going to hell when I die. And that is no loss.

There’s a saying that goes, “I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn’t, than to live my life as if there isn’t and die to find out there is.” You’re choice. Do you want to go through life feeling like a lost cause or as a beloved child of the King?

Have a great day.
