“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.“
(Philippians 4:8 ESV)
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
(Romans 12:2 ESV)
I was reading a story on Facebook yesterday. The gist of it was if someone bumped into and you spilled what was in your cup, what was spilled out? You say whatever was in the cup spilled. True. Now apply that to your life. What if someone does something to make you mad? What spills out? Is it anger? Or do you take a deep breath and respond without anger?
It’s hard not to lash out at someone. Believe me, I know. I have been on both sides of that. But that is not the response we should have. We need to treat people with kindness and understanding.
I know that can be hard when someone is lashing out at you. You want to defend yourself. But think about it a minute. A little kindness goes a long way. Don’t return anger with anger. That just makes a bad situation worse. So let me encourage you today. Respond with kindness. Don’t let someone get to you so badly that you lash out at them.
Have a blessed day, everyone.
