I was thinking about kids growing up now. They don’t know the kind of freedom I had growing up. When I got old enough, I took off on my bike and was gone all day. Mom never worried about me. Those were the days. I rode all over town and never worried about anything.
I feel for kids today. They don’t know what it’s like to grow up before the electronic age. But I have seen that the more things change, the more God stays the same. God never changes. God stays the same. He never changes His mind about us.
I wish kids today could have the childhood I grew up with. Sunday School was different then, too. We spent very little time upstairs with the adults. We were in the basement and loving every minute. That Pentecostal church is where I first learned about God. That’s where I received my first Bible. I finally sowed it into someone a few years ago. But God is just as real to me today as He was back then. I gave my life to Him all those years ago during a revival out of town. The pastor loaded up the kids in the back of a borrowed farm truck and drove us 30 miles one way to a revival. We had fun in the back of that truck.
God was with me then, and He is with me now. He is a very strong influence in my life. It’s fun to think back on the different times in your life. It’s nice to recall certain events in your life. Spend a little time reminiscing today. See if it brings a smile to your face like it did me.
