Unforgiveness

by | Dec 21, 2023 | a new perspective, Forgiveness, Prayer

“And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25 ESV)

“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Matthew 6:14-15 ESV)

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.’ (Ephesians 4:32 ESV)

Do you have unforgiveness in your heart? Is there someone you are holding a grudge against? Do you know unforgiveness will keep you out of heaven? Unforgiveness in your heart is not good.

I am a firm believer in what goes around comes around. If you have someone you can’t forgive, your kids may think it’s ok and end up treating you the same way. How would you like that?

Unforgiveness can eat at you until you become bitter and mean. Don’t let it take hold in your life. What kind of example would it have been if Jesus had unforgiveness towards the people who crucified him? Not a very good one. But Jesus didn’t. In fact He asked God to forgive them: “Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’” (  Luke 23:34 NIV)

If Jesus could forgive, why can’t you? I have had some pretty bad things said about me and I’ve been lied about. But I forgave them. By holding unforgiveness you are missing out on a lot of things, especially if it’s a family member or friend. My advice, forgive whoever and move on. Try to rebuild that bridge if possible. You might be surprised at what you might have missed otherwise.

Have a great day and remember, if Jesus could forgive those who killed Him, you can forgive too.
