“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
(Ephesians 4:31-32 ESV)
“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
(Matthew 7:12 ESV)
Just when I thought kindness was dead and buried, I was proved wrong yesterday. I went to Walmart to do some grocery shopping. I always get a rider because it’s hard for me to walk distances. I was leaving when an older gentleman followed me out. He asked if he could follow me out and have the rider. I got to the car and moved the case of water from between my feet. He asked if he could help me. He loaded all my things into the car. Once he was done, he said to have a blessed day. It was so nice to hear that.
Then, later that afternoon, I got a phone call from housing. Instead of being the grumpy crabby person I usually get when I call in a work order, she was polite and kind. God wanted to prove a point to me yesterday. If I treat people how I want to be treated, I will receive what I dish out.
My grandma Keller once told me you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar. That has proven to be right. When I go somewhere, I go with a smile. If I see someone who needs a smile, I give them one of mine. I have found that God has made me more outgoing. I have found that it’s fun to talk to total strangers. Even if it’s only a hi, how you doing. I get a pleasant response. You never know what someone is going through. They just might need a kind word or just a smile. Be that person. God will reward you later.
Have a blessed day, everyone.
