“And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash;” (1 Samuel 13:11 KJV).
Dearly beloved and friends, our God is a God of order and purpose and does nothing haphazardly. We must learn to stick to God’s program and not jump the gun or be too much in a hurry in our desires in life. God’s time is the best in all circumstances.
• “Let all things be done decently and in order.” (1 Corinthians 14:40 KJV).
• “Be not wise in thine own eyes: Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.” (Proverbs 3:7 KJV).
• “A faithful man shall abound with blessings: But he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.” (Proverbs 28:20 KJV)
Examples:
Those who jumped the gun:
- Abraham: Was pressured into impregnating Hagar by Sarah because of impatience.
Result: Ismael was born and his generations are the Arabs who are still stumbling blocks to the Israelites to date (See Genesis 16:1-6). - King Saul: He hastily performed duty of Prophet Samuel which was a taboo in ministry.
Result: He lost the throne (See 1 Samuel 13:13-14). - Peter: He relied on the arm of flesh, at the Mount of Gethsemane, rather than to allow God to take charge, he chopped off the ear of Malchus (See John 18:10-11).
Result: He was sharply rebuked by Jesus. - YOU: Please bid your time and allow God to tell you when to take that next move; don’t jump the gun (See Isaiah 28:16)
Result: Patience will get you there (See James 1:4)
What to do:
•Seek the face of God at all moments.
•Ensure you get rid of inordinate desires.
•Wait for your turn, your blessing is coming.
•Don’t bow to human pressure, trust God.
Prayer Points: In Jesus name, amen:
1. Father, my times are in your hand, please lead me by the way to go and help me to follow.
2. Father, let patience consume my whole life.
3. Father I will wait for my appointed time in line with Your will till my change comes amen.
