Pop quiz. Do you know the 10 commandments? Do you keep them or think they are in the Bible because God needed filler?
Let’s review…
- Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
- Thou shalt not make gods or worship them.
- Thou shalt not use the Lord’s name in vain.
- Thou shalt keep the Sabbath Day holy
- Thou shalt honor thy father and mother.
- Thou shalt not murder.
- Thou shalt not commit adultery.
- Thou shalt not steal.
- Thou shalt not give false witness against thy neighbor.
- Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors property.
They are pretty self explanatory but here goes.
- God is a jealous god. He doesn’t like it when we put idols in His place.
- Don’t make idols and worship them. See #1.
- Don’t use God’s name to cuss.
- God rested on the 7th day. We should too.
- Honor your father and mother. They do love you regardless what you think.
- Do not kill! Everyone, no matter what kind of person they are, deserves to live or have a chance to live. I know abortion is legal but it’s not right to take an innocent life.
- Do not commit adultry. Don’t cheat on your spouse even if you are separated. It’s wrong.
- If it doesn’t belong to you, don’t take it.
- Don’t lie. I don’t care if you think you have it covered up, it will come out.
- Don’t Covet: “yearn to possess or have something.” If it’s not yours, ignore it. Or go get one like it.
There it is. My interpretation of the 10 Commandments. If any apply to you, maybe you want to fix it. Hint, hint. Fix it before it’s too late. God will forgive you but why chance it? You may not get a chance to repent so just don’t break the Commandments in the first place.
