Do We Forgive Others?

by | Apr 9, 2023 | Forgiveness

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

(Ephesians 4:32 ESV)

“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

(Matthew 6:14-15 ESV)

“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’”

(Matthew 6:9-13 NIV)

In the Lord’s Prayer  it clearly states we are to forgive as we have been forgiven. Do you think God just put that there as a page filler? Ho you think He laughed as He included it, knowing some of us just can’t seem to forgive others?

I used to have issues forgiving some people. Some people would do stupid things and expect me to forgive them but when I had 1 minor infraction, they kept bringing it up and would never forgive me. But I thank God that He isn’t like that. All we have to do is repent, ask His forgiveness. He not only forgives but He also forgets, never to bring it up again.

God loves us so much. I know we keep disappointing Him, but He keeps forgiving us. For those who have kids, been around kids or was a kid, you know how hard it can be to forgive at times. So let’s practice forgiveness. If someone tries your patience, forgive them.

Have a good day everyone.
