“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18 ESV)
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20 ESV)
There’s a song called, “At the Cross”:
“At the cross, at the cross,
(At the Cross by Isaac Watts)
where I first saw the Light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away.
It was there by Faith,
I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day.”
Jesus died on the cross, that we all know. But do you know that the blood Jesus shed on that cross is powerful? Jesus shed His blood on the cross so we can live. We have access to that blood. We can plead the blood over us to heal us. We can plead it for protection.
I drive an older car. It’s seen better days but it still runs. Every time I get in that car, or any car for that matter, I plead the blood of Jesus over that trip.
One definition from google for cross is, “an upright =post with a transverse bar, as used in antiquity for crucifixion.”
Just think, Jesus was nailed to a cross. It hurts when I get a splinter in my finger. I can’t imagine the pain Jesus was in nailed to the cross. I guess, technically, the cross saved me. By Jesus dying on the cross, He took my sins. He died so I could live.
Easter is coming up soon. Forget about the Easter bunny and baskets of candy. But if you can’t, be sure to put something in it about Jesus and the cross. Teach the little ones about the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. Teach them it’s ok to love Jesus. Candy is good but Jesus is better.
Have a blessed day everyone.
