“You shall walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you shall possess.”
(Deuteronomy 5:33 ESV)
“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
(Micah 6:8 ESV)
I was scrolling through Facebook yesterday and heard a young lady singing that song. She has a beautiful voice by the way. But I got to thinking about my walk with Jesus. That’s how we need to do it, one day at a time.
Everyone’s walk with God is a personal thing. Each one is different. Some are walking closely while others drag along behind, trying to catch up, but keep getting distracted. We need to focus on our walk. Distractions need to be avoided. That is the devil trying to cause you to walk away instead of with Jesus.
The song says it all:
“One day at a time sweet Jesus.
(One Dy at a Time, originally sung by the Jordanaires)
That’s all I’m asking of You.
Just give me the strength,
To do everyday what I have to do.
Yesterday’s gone sweet Jesus.
And tomorrow may never be mine.
Lord help me today, show me the way.
One day at a time.”
Tomorrow is not promised to us. Today isn’t even promised to us. When our number is up, we’re out of here. Make sure you are walking closely with Jesus. Grab His hand and hold on tight. Get your walk right so you are good to go when the time comes.
Have a great day everyone and be sure to work on you walk with Jesus. I am.
Have a great day.
