“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” (Psalm 16:11 NKJ)
“A person finds joy in giving an apt reply, and how good is a timely word.” (Proverbs 15:23 NKJ)
We had a guest speaker at church this weekend. Though he and his wife are more like family than guests. He was ministering to one of our members yesterday and said “contagious joy.”
That got me to thinking. What is contagious joy?
Well, let’s break it down. Google defines contagious as, “An emotion, feeling or attitude likely to spread to and infect others.” Google defines joy as, “A feeling of great pleasure and happiness.” So if we put that together, we can define contagious joy as a great feeling that will spread to others. That is the Kathy translation.
What a nice thought, to be so full of joy, that it bubbles over onto others and fills them with joy. That sounds like a good place to live. Especially with the world going crazy. But how do we get there? How can we be so full of joy when joy is a scarce commodity?
There is actually joy everywhere. Kids, for the most part, bring me joy. Reading my Bible, praying, a beautiful sunrise or sunset can all being me joy or just talking to a friend.
You know what goes hand in hand with joy? Peace! If you have joy, peace tags right along with it. It’s like that annoying younger sibling that always wants to be with you. But I welcome peace. Because it works right along with joy. I am happier when I have peace.
So let’s all find our joy and go out and infect people with it. Give people a transfusion of God’s brand of joy! His supply never runs out. Always remember that God loves you and so do I.
Have a blessed day everyone.
