“And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”
(Mark 11:25 ESV)
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
(1 John 1:9 ESV)
Have you ever had to ask someone to forgive you? I think we all have at one time or another. Was it easy to ask or was it hard? I have never had an easy time asking for forgiveness. But there is one person I never have trouble asking forgiveness from. That person is my Father.
All I have to say is Father forgive me and He does. He will forgive me for anything I ask Him to. God loves me and I love Him. That’s why my heavenly Father will forgive me.
But even more important is that once He forgives me He also forgets what I did. I can’t forget because the devil keeps bringing it up again and again. But at least I know the most important person will not remember what I did.
Parents, can you say that about your kids? If one of your kids asks your forgiveness, do you immediately forget what they did? Probably not. We just aren’t wired that way.
How do you ask God for forgiveness? Is it in a round about way? Or do you just cut to the chase and ask? I am more the second choice now. I ask God’s forgiveness everyday. I don’t want to think there is a problem and I haven’t corrected it. But what if I haven’t done anything wrong? But what if I have and don’t realize it? I don’t want to take a chance.
So take time today to clear your records. Just ask God for His forgiveness. Then ask Him into your heart. As long as your breathing it’s not to late. Go into the new year with a clear conscious and Jesus in your heart.
Have a great day.
