The Ten Commandments

Exodus 20:2-17  Deuteronomy 5:6-21
Both are references

God said it’s time to review the 10 commandments. He said some of us are not paying attention to them anymore.

Below are the 10 commandments. Which ones do you need to work on? If none, good for you. You’re a better person than me.

The 10 Commandments

1. You shall have no other God’s before me.
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images.
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath day and keep it Holy.
5. Honor your father and mother.
6. Thou shalt not kill.
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.  This means husbands and wives should be faithful to one another.
8. Thou shalt not steal.
9. Thou shall not bear false witness.
10. You shall not covet.

I think we all have places in our lives that need improvement, whether we want to admit it or not. Mostly we don’t want to admit our short comings.

Let’s go through a few of the commandments. Number 1. You shall have no other god. Did you know that whatever you put before God can be an idol? Money, things like the best car or tv. Designer clothes and purses or wallets. These can also cover number 10 to not covet.

Let’s jump to number 5. Honor your father and mother. I hear kids yelling at or cussing out their parents. And getting by with it. Kids have learned they can threaten to call DCFS if parents try to discipline them.

Number 7. Shall not commit adultery.  I personally don’t have an issue with this one because I’m not married. That is a requirement in committing adultery. But if you are married to someone and living with someone else like a married couple, you are living an adulterous life. That directly violates commandment number 7.

People I want to stress again, time is short. It’s time to get your life straight again. It’s time to get right with God again. So take a minute and evaluate your life and correct what’s wrong.
