“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” (1 John 4:16 ESV)
“And he said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:37-39 ESV)
Well, the holiday season is basically over for this year. Just New Years Eve then onto a new year and new opportunities. I am leaving some things behind as I go into 2023. Attitude for one and allowing people to try to manipulate me into doing things.
But one thing I will not be leaving behind is Jesus. He goes where I go. He holds my hand and protects me. He gives me strength to do what I have to do. But most of all, He will fight my battles for me. Jesus loves me and I love Him. That is a truth I can stand on.
What has Jesus done for me? He saved me. He chased after me until he caught me and brought me back to the fold. Jesus provides for me. He heals me. But no matter what I ask Jesus for, if the answer is yes, it will come in His timing.
Jesus loves us. Do you love Jesus? Do you love others as Jesus loves you? I don’t care who it is. I don’t care how badly someone may have hurt you. If I can learn to love my irritating neighbor, you can learn to love whoever is a thorn in your side. So if you have someone you don’t love, you need to find compassion in your heart and try to love them. If someone has done you wrong, you need to forgive them and move on. If Jesus can love the people who killed him, you can love that whoever in your life.
