Temptations

by | Dec 1, 2022 | Submission, Temptation

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV)

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7 ESV)

As I was looking at one of the many Christmas catalogs I get, I was looking at this and that, thinking how nice that would look in my home. Or how comfortable that would be. The problem is, I have credit with those companies and I can pay over time. Easy please. Let’s order.

But the problem is, you can have all the credit in the world but you still have to pay it back. With interest. So as I put the catalogs down, in the trash, I got to thinking about how tempting it would be to order things. But then the bills come in.

Temptations come from the devil. He sends tempting things our way guaranteeing low monthly payments. Until you get the bills. Yes, low payments on each item but then total all those items and it’s not so low.

That’s not the only temptations he sends our way. He puts people in our path to lead us astray from what God wants us to do. He puts financial burdens on us so we are focused on that instead of God. We get so caught up in how to pay this or that we lose focus on God.

God has a way of escape for us when the devil tries to take us out. He will provide our means of escape, if we are focused on Him. How many times have you tried to escape temptations on your own? It doesn’t always work out for the best does it? But if we stay focused on God, if we keep the blinders on, and just stay focused on God, things will work out for the best.

God has a plan for each of us if we just avoid temptations. So no matter what you are going through, put your focus back on God and let Him take care of it.

Have a blessed day everyone.
