“Pray without ceasing…”

“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”
(Romans 8:26 ESV)
Google defines prayer as, “A solemn request for help or expression of thanks addressed to God.”
How do you pray? Is it heartfelt, deep, earnest prayer? Or is it, “Hi God. I need ….”? Do you pray for others or just say you will and then don’t. “Oh, so and so always prays so they will do it.” What if so and so doesn’t pray or hasn’t been told about someone needing prayer? That person may not get the prayer they need. What if you need prayer? Who will you ask?
I know who I can ask and will always know they are actually praying for me. I send out prayer requests from people at church. If someone asks me to send it just to the ones I know will pray, I know who the select few are who will be on it as soon as they get it. I value those people in my life. I hope people consider me one they know will pray for them.
But what if it’s hard for you to pray? What’s changed in your life to cause the flow to stop? You might want to think about it and see what can be done to fix it.
This world needs intercessors. We need praying people to break the bonds holding us back from what God has for us. There have been times when my prayer life was on fire and times I just kind of phoned it in. I like the on fire best. I have had people tell me they don’t know how to pray. Just talk to God like you would talk to me. Prayers don’t have to be filled thee’s and thou’s. Just talk to God like a friend. He is your friend, you know. He loves you and wants to talk to you. So talk to him.
