“Then the Lord God said to the woman, ‘What is this that you have done?’ The woman said, ‘The serpent deceived me, and I ate.'”(Genesis 3:13 ESV)
“The man said, ‘The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.’”(Genesis 3:12 ESV
I keep hearing people make excuses on why they don’t want to do something. I do the same thing. Some excuses I have heard are actually funny. One I remember was this person had pulled a hang nail and it bled a little, now they felt lightheaded and couldn’t go to work.
The first recorded excuse was Eve telling God the serpent made her eat the fruit. Then everything went downhill from there. The second excuse was Adam telling God, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” Now what if Jesus decided He wasn’t ready to die for us on the cross? What if He made excuses for not doing it? Where would we be right now?
But Jesus didn’t make excuses. He didn’t throw blame on anyone, not even Judas when he betrayed Him.
We need to be more like Jesus. Stop making excuses on why you can’t do what you have been called to do. Get out there and do it. If Jesus died on the cross for us without making excuses, we can get out there and spread the good word about Him.
So I challenge each of you to stop making excuses and start telling others about our savior. It might just help you feel better about yourself too.
Have a great day everyone.
