A Little Kindness Goes a Long Way

by | Apr 13, 2022 | Kindness

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Ephesians 4:32 ESV

“And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.”

Luke 6:31 ESV

I watched a short video yesterday morning about an overweight girl who just wanted to dance. People made fun of her because of her size. It got me to thinking. I have been overweight all my life. I have been ridiculed and been made fun of too. Tub of lard was a favorite taunt. I acted like it didn’t bother me but it really did. But then I remembered Jesus was also made fun of.

According to Wikipedia:

“According to the gospel narratives, Jesus had predicted that He would be mocked (See Matthew 20:19, Mark 10:34, and Luke 18:32). The mocking of Christ took place in three stages: immediately following his trial, immediately following His condemnation by Pontius Pilate, and when He was being crucified.”

I haven’t read anywhere that Jesus retaliated against his tormentors. I wanted to get back at mine but never did. I have been told to turn the other check. I try to treat people how I want to be treated so the people who are mean to me I kill them with kindness.

Don’t let tormentors get to you. Turn the other cheek and tell them you love them.

By the way, the girl in the video became a ballerina despite her size. All because someone was kind to her and showed interest in her.

Have a blessed day and stay safe.
