Distracted

by | Feb 2, 2022 | Focus

“I am saying this for your benefit, not to place restrictions on you. I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few distractions as possible.” (1 Corinthians 7:35 NKJ)

“Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.” (Proverbs 4:25 NKJ)

I just realized something. I was distracted yesterday.

I got up, got dressed and figured that since there is big storm coming and about a ton and a half of snow and ice coming, I better go get groceries. So instead of picking up my Bible to read, I picked up my keys and purse. In my defense, I did read and study when I got home. But that isn’t the same routine for me. I just felt off all day.

Then different things throughout the day distracted me. Nothing big or major, but distractions just the same. Then as I was starting to pray about a topic for this, I got distracted. But I guess that distraction was a good one because it gave me my topic.

But that is how the devil works. He will dangle a shiny object in front of us and distract us just long enough to get our focus of Jesus. The devil tried to distract Jesus too. He tried to get Jesus to worship him for the promise of the world, if I remember right. But Jesus couldn’t be distracted, not by satan, not by anything or anyone.

That’s how we need to live our lives. We need to keep our focus on Jesus and kick the devil aside. Especially in this time, we need to keep our focus on Jesus. He will never lead us astray. He will come looking for us if we do stray.

So turn your eyes toward heaven and keep them on Jesus. Be sure to tell others about Jesus. You never know who might need to hear.

Have a blessed day.
