“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24 ESV)
“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive it, if you have faith.” (Matthew 21:22 ESV)
There is power in a sincere, fervent prayer.
Praying can also bring peace. There has been a lot of things and people I have prayed for over the years. I am writing this Saturday night as it storms outside. Just this afternoon I learned there were severe storms predicted for my area. I immediately prayed. I declared no damage to my home or car. I prayed for my town. I even prayed for the electric to stay on. I will let you know about that one. I am sitting here, by my livingroom windows, watching it get dark and listening to the tornado warning siren blaring.
But I will tell you, fear wanted to creep in and I had to stand against it. And I am fine. As I sit here listening to rain, I feel peace. It’s hard to explain. But it’s a wonderful feeling of peace.
Prayer is a powerful weapon we have against the evils of this world.
I had a kid ask me once how to pray. I had to think about that. I finally told her to just talk to God like she talks to me or her friends. God is a friend. He wants to hear our voices lifted up in prayer, praise and worship. I love talking to my Heavenly Father and he loves to hear from us.
So I encourage you to say hi to our heavenly Father. Tell Him what’s on your mind. He will take care of your problems if you let him.
Oh by the way, the power stayed on last night.
