Easter is Coming

by | Apr 3, 2021 | Holidays

“Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.'” (John 20:29 ESV)

“And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.'” (Mark 16:15-16 ESV)

Easter is not about baskets filled with candy and treats. Easter is not about getting dressed up and making your annual spring trip to church. Easter is about the death and later resurrection of Jesus.

Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He did it willingly. I don’t know if I would be that willing to die for a bunch of unworthy sinners. But He was.

And how He was put on the cross. He was nailed to it. I read somewhere once that in order for the nails to go through His hands and feet, they would have been the size of a railroad spike. Can you imagine that going through your hands and feet?

Plus, they were nailed such a way as to tear tendons and ligaments. Once you tear a tendon or ligament, your joints are not supported and will give with weight, causing more problems. But Jesus never complained. He even made arrangements for His mother to be taken care of after His death. If I was nailed to that cross, I don’t think I would have the presence of mind to make plans for someone to care for my mother when I was gone. I would be begging God to send angels to get me out of this mess.

But not Jesus.

I think He knew all along He would die that way. He knew He was going to shed His blood for us.

Isn’t that great to know? Jesus loved us even before any of of us came along, to die on the cross for our sins.

Isn’t it time for you to think about where you will spend eternity? Please don’t make what Jesus went through to have been done in vain. I made my choice. How about you? Heaven or hell? I choose heaven. Join me, please. Just click here.
