“Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, ‘We have found the Messiah’ (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus. Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. Philip found Nathanael and told him, ‘We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote-Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.'” (John 1:40-42, 44-45)
Networking and marketing. It’s kind of Andrew thing. When Andrew heard some great news, he said to his brother, essentially, “Come and see!”
John and Andrew lived in the same town, and they both were in the fishing business. When Andrew heard what John said about Jesus, he couldn’t wait to tell his brother, (Simon) Peter. Then when Philip, also from the same town as Andrew and Peter, heard the good news, he couldn’t wait to tell Nathanael.
Come and see; it has a “ripple” effect. One person tells another, who tells another, who tells another…When we latch onto some new idea, a revelation thought, a gift of healing, a place we’ve visited, or any number of things, we get excited! We are bursting to share the info with someone. We tell a friend, a co-worker, a family member. Maybe a person we don’t even know well, a cashier, cab driver, clerk.
Thank you, Lord, for providing Good News each and every day to us, and letting us share that. Come and see!
