My husband watched a documentary on hot dog stands. He watched it several times and it prompted him to visit all the neighboring hot dog stands. Whenever he was out on daily errands, he would get that desire to stop for a tasty hot dog.
I don’t believe there is anything wrong with my husband’s desire for an occasional hot dog. But watching this habit form before my very eyes, has made me think more about Jesus’ caution to us, that we need to watch what we see and hear.
Suggestion is powerful. It is a tool that transforms our minds, and changes our lives — For good or for evil.
That has alerted me to be more careful about the entertainment I watch, or listen to. I should be careful about the company I keep, because listening to gossip and complaining has a negative effect on my attitude.
It’s a powerful mind the Lord has given us. What we choose to copy comes to us through the power of suggestion.
