Fang

by | Oct 18, 2014 | God Cares, Lessons From Pets

My son got Fang his senior year of college. In the spring he brought Fang to me, because he was going to be gone for spring break and neither he nor his room mates would be home. Fang lived with me for 7 years from 1995 through 2002. That is when I sent him to my son as he was established, had a wife and child. I want to let you know about Fang’s understanding of what was said to him and his affection for my son. My son is in the Air Force. After 9/11 he was ordered overseas.

Not to long after my son was sent over seas, Fang came to me and mewed at me, then turned and walked up the stairs and stopped in front of the door to what used to be my son’s bedroom. I let him in and thought nothing about it, until it happened again and again. It happened the entire 3 months my son was overseas. When my son returned to the states and it was not where I lived in Northern Virginia, but to Texas, Fang did not go to his room. My son was sent over seas 3 other times while I lived in Virginia and he in Texas. Each time he was sent over seas, Fang wanted into his bedroom to sleep at night. I can only guess that Fang understood when I would say to him, “Well Fang, the big boy is going over seas again. We have to pray for him”. When my son returned to Texas from overseas, I would tell Fang, “The big boy is home now.” Fang loved my son and his sleeping in my son’s room while he was overseas showed me how much he cared for my son.

We can see God’s loves us in His creation!  “The Heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shoes His handiwork.”  (Ps. 19:1)
