“Daniel shall be over all the kingdoms of the land.”
The other men who ruled with Daniel, they were filled with hate.
Since Daniel was exalted now, their jealousy was great.
Daniel, Daniel, what are you going to do?
Daniel, Daniel, what will happen to you?
The men examined Daniel’s life to try and find a flaw.
The only thing they found was that he never broke the law!
There had to be another way for Daniel to be caught.
They searched within the laws of Daniel’s God for what they sought.
Daniel, Daniel, what are you going to do?
Daniel, Daniel, what will happen to you?
They said, “Oh king, a gift we bring! We come to give you praise.
Let no one pray to anyone but you for thirty days.
Because we love you, we request, that you affix your seal.
From our gift of love, oh king, there shall be no appeal.”
Daniel, Daniel, what are you going to do?
Daniel, Daniel, what will Darius do?
Then Daniel heard about the law. He knew what was at stake.
Daniel also knew the choice that he would have to make.
The king would punish him if he got on his knees and prayed.
The king would throw him to the lions if he disobeyed!
Daniel, Daniel, what are you going to do?
Daniel, Daniel, what will happen to you?
Daniel went up to his room, his window opened wide.
He probably suspected that the men were right outside.
Without a moment’s thought about the king and his decrees,
he went up to the window ledge, and got down on his knees!
Daniel, Daniel, you knew just what to do!
Daniel, Daniel, what will Darius do?
Daniel started praying, out the window, right out loud!
Daniel’s prayer was humble, but his voice was strong, and proud!
The men were filled with joyous rage, when Daniel’s prayer was heard!
Daniel slowly sealed his fate, with every single word!
Daniel, Daniel, you knew just what to do!
Daniel, Daniel, what will happen to you?
The men went to the king and said, “We heard this Daniel pray!
We saw you sign this law, and he refuses to obey!
Daniel’s God, and your decree, they both can not be changed!”
Now the king was sure that Daniel’s fate was prearranged!
Daniel, Daniel, what will Darius do?
Daniel, Daniel, what will happen to you?
With great regret, the king wished that, his deed could be undone!
But soon the king would have to face, the setting of the sun.
Then the king would have to do the thing that he had said.
With sorrow in his heart, he knew that Daniel would be dead!
Daniel, Daniel, what else could Darius do?
Daniel, Daniel, what will become of you?
Darkness came, and Daniel went, into the lions’ den!
Darius was sure that they would never meet again!
Darius grieved the whole night through, until the break of day.
Alas! Alas! If only, there had been some other way!
Daniel, Daniel, what will Darius do?
Daniel, Daniel, what became of you?
From the lions’ den, they moved the heavy stone aside.
From his heavy heart, Darius raised his voice and cried:
“Daniel, oh my Daniel! What else could I do?
Daniel, oh my Daniel, did God rescue you?”
Daniel, Daniel, what else could Darius do?
Daniel, Daniel, what became of you?
The king was filled with joy when he heard Daniel’s voice again!
Could it be that he still lived, within the lions’ den?
“Oh king, God’s angel quieted, the lions all night long!
Neither in God’s eyes or yours, have I done any wrong!”
Daniel, Daniel, the living God is true!
Daniel, Daniel, he really rescued you!
Now that they had moved the stone, from the lions’ den,
Daniel was released, and then they threw in those evil men!
Before they even reached the bottom, their flesh and bones were ground!
Happy lions growling softly, was all they ever found!
Daniel, Daniel, the living God is true!
Daniel, Daniel, he really rescued you!
Saints have been consumed by lions, but even these will rise!
We will see them come with Jesus, in the eastern skies.
Satan is a roaring lion, seeking saints to kill.
Satan’s dinner is expensive!
Wait ’til he gets the bill!!!
Satan! Satan! What are you going to do?
Satan! Satan! Your meal is almost through!!!
