  Before I Fell Asleep A Poem

by | Oct 18, 2014 | Comfort, Poems

At night before I fall asleep,
upon my brow my burdens heaped,
I ask the Lord my burdens share,
forgive my sins; too much to bear.

Oh Lord, Your mercy I ask,
I know my sins are not all passed.
But by Your grace, forgiven I’ll be,
for this I plead so prayerfully.

At times I feel there’s no relief
from troubles, trials, sorrow and grief.
My heart is heavy, my head hung low,
no one to turn to, no place to go.

Then in desperation I turn,
to One Whose Presence with me I yearn;
the One Who is always there;
the One Who knows my every care.

At last I find peace and rest.
He gives me comfort, in Him I’m blessed.
In Him is life, in Him I find,
the balm of Gilead, that soothes my mind.
